Our client’s company is a reliable provider of colocation and connectivity services, offering the best and most sustainable digital solutions. The initial location is in Germany, with 10 distributed edge data centers, followed by other data centers in the Netherlands, UK, Belgium, Spain, France, and Switzerland. Currently, there are about 30 edge locations.

The data centers are integrated into a future-oriented energy infrastructure, contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions in the generation, heating, and gas sectors through sector coupling. The role of data centers in Europe as innovative levers for reducing coal and stabilizing green energy infrastructure is being redefined from the ground up.

We are seeking a Facility (Field) Engineer for the Belgium location who, in close consultation with the Manager of Operations, will contribute to the maintenance of technical installations and infrastructure within the data centers.

Function

• Assisting in proper, timely, and in accordance with applicable processes and procedures, the execution of activities for the equipment in the concerned data center:
  1. Assist in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of planned maintenance, meeting all standards and procedures, by leveraging competent contractor/vendor resources with attention to quality.
  2. Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting all electrical and mechanical systems in the data center.
  3. Inform and brief the Chief Engineer on planned and corrective work occurring in the data center.
  4. In concert with the Chief Engineer:
  • Supervise contractors carrying out work within the Data Centre
  • Be responsible for ensuring that supervised work being done by contractors/vendors is logged in the systems
  • Assist with coordination and communication during emergency recovery efforts.
  • Work on 1-line equipment according to the Planned Preventive Maintenance Schedule, including a roadmap approved by the Manager of Operations and/or the Nominated person in control of an electrical installation
  • During normal working hours, respond to alarms, critical situations, and emergencies promptly and appropriately. Be responsible for communicating in a calm and clear manner and in accordance with the emergency response plan
  • Take the initiative to ensure that quality and efficiency standards are raised for all equipment in the data center. This includes finding ways to deliver cost savings to the company without sacrificing quality

Job Requirements

• 3 or more years of relevant work experience in data centers or other critical environments.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in the data center environment, including transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS & STS units, RPP units, chillers, and CRAC/CRAH units.
• Electro-technical training/education
• Safety for Operational Supervisors would be a plus
• Good oral and written communication skills in English, Dutch would be a plus.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office)
• Eligible to work in Belgium without the need for visa sponsorship
